DESEI 2018
The National Armaments Directorate of the Spanish Ministry of Defence has organized the 6th National Congress on Research and Development (R&D) in Defense and Security 2018 (DESEI+d 2018). Congress has been held in the SP Military Cavalry School sited in Valladolid (Spain). This Congress has been an excellent forum where all main ESP military and civilian stakeholders related with R&D issues in the Defence and Security field have had opportunities to present and discuss the latest research made in some of the seven (7) areas related with defence and security. In that sense, the seven (7) main R&D areas have focused on: (1) Weapon systems and Ammunition; (2) Sensors and Electronic Systems –radar, electromagnetic warfare, optronics-; (3) Platforms (ground, naval, aerial, satellites); (4) Future Soldier Systems; (5) CBRNe “ 5A C-IED and 5B CBRN”; (6) Information systems and C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence); and (7) Society, Economics, Geopolitics, Psychology, Medical Support and Energy. Briefers came from military, R&D centers, Centers for Technological and Industrial Development, high technology laboratories, Academia, specialized Centers (C-IED COE) and ESP Ministries as Defence; Science, Innovation and Universities; Internal Affairs and Industry & Commerce. The DESEI+d Workshop has showed its high level of maturity at national level providing an open space to know and discuss cutting-edge technologies relating to R&D issues in the national defence and security arena. In the 6th DESEI+d 2018, the counter improvised explosive device discipline has been considered relevant within its seven broad and complex areas of work and the C-IED COE has proved that it is one of the main actors in the field of C-IED and also on R&D activities.
