The new iteration of the C-IED Staff Officers Course (CSOC) gathers 23 students from 10 nations

08 July 2025 - The Centre of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED COE) has delivered the second 2025 edition of the C-IED Staff Officers Course (CSOC) at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.

The course, which was inaugurated by the Director of the C-IED COE, colonel Javier Corbacho Margallo, brought together 23 students of 10 nationalities.

Its aim is to provide personnel assigned to General Staffs, Headquarters and other operational units with the necessary training to advise the command leading the C-IED effort, at both tactical and operational levels.

The classes mainly focused on the threat, the doctrine and the operational planning. The theoretical part has been taught by personnel posted at the Centre, all experts in different areas of the C-IED fight, both Spanish and from the COE’s Sponsoring Nations.

The last two days were devoted to a group exercise on a fictitious scenario, where students had the opportunity to discuss, share experiences and exchange knowledge.
