Steering Commitee meeting at the Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence

  • The Steering Committee, where all Sponsoring Nations are represented, is the body that rules the activities of this International Military Organization.

From 18 to 19 November 2025, the C-IED COE has organized the annual meeting of its Steering Committee (SC).

The SC Chairman, Spanish colonel Fernando Cano Artero, led the meeting, counting on the director of the C-IED COE, colonel Javier Sanz Maldonado, as advisor to the Committee, joined by several members of the Centre.

Eleven of the Sponsoring Nations attended in person, while one of them participated virtually (Türkiye). The meeting also counted on the presence of two Canadian representatives as observers.

On the first day, relevant information was presented, such as the Centre’s manning, updates and projects, implementation of 2025 Programme of Work (POW), and proposal and approval of 2026 POW.

The Financial Controller also detailed the implementation of 2025 budget and presented a proposal for 2026, as well as sharing the expenses approval for 2024.

On the second day, representatives approved the paper that included the decisions taken, confirming their commitment through their signature. This document is essential for the Centre’s performance, as it contains the approval of the budget and POW for 2026.
