Last week, the C-IED COE held the third edition of the C-IED Staff Officers Course in 2025.

Opened by the Director of C-IED COE, Colonel Javier Sanz Maldonado, the course brought together 20 students of eight nationalities (Belgium, Spain, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland and Turkiye) at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.

The classes have been taught by staff assigned to the Centre and have mainly focused on understanding the threat, doctrine on the subject, and operational planning.

After the theoretical sessions they received during the first two days of the course, students were divided into three syndicates where they were tasked to solve operational problems supporting the commander’s decisions either within the planning process or during the conduct of the operations. This gave attendees the opportunity to apply what they had learnt, debate, share experiences and exchange knowledge.
