The Weapons Intelligence Team Training Developer Course (WIT TDC) Receives 16 Students from 9 Nations
From 01 to 05 December 2024, the Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence (C-IED COE) successfully conducted a new iteration of the Weapons Intelligence Team (WIT) Training Developer Course at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.
The course was officially opened by the Deputy Director of the Centre, U.S. Army Colonel Cristopher Bartos, and brought together 16 participants from 9 NATO nations. Instruction was delivered by subject matter experts from the C-IED COE, along with external briefers.
This course is specifically designed to train WIT Course Directors and Senior Instructors in the development of WIT training. It focuses on the implementation of updated skills and standards, and the creation of realistic WIT-related scenarios and vignettes.
During the theoretical sessions, participants received updated instruction on WIT techniques, standards, and doctrinal developments. Practical sessions featured the design and execution of fictional scenarios, allowing students to apply newly acquired knowledge in a simulated environment.
As a result, those responsible for planning and conducting WIT training within NATO and Allied nations are now better equipped to deliver high-quality instruction. The course has strengthened their ability to develop and manage WIT programmes by providing the latest information and practices in technical exploitation as it relates to counter-IED operations.
